Fill a small, glass jar with acetone and submerge the tip of your brush in it. Swirl the tip of the brush around so that you get any particles or previous color off of the brush.

Photoetching metal is simple AND FUN! Etching can be used for printing processes, as an artifact of art, or for roller print embellishment. It involves a mordant (acid) to etch an image onto metal and a resist to repel the mordant. A resist can take many forms: plastic, vinyl, marking pens, duct tape, nail polish, etc. Be sure to use flat black and not satin black, as satin black produces small amount of shine which is undesirable. Flat black paint also dries very quickly (about 60-seconds), and is available in 1/2 pint (8 oz.) cans. This method is suitable for all engraved items, and is quite durable.

To achieve an artistic acid metal etch with galvanized steel it's necessary to remove as much of the surface protectant as possible. This is done with a mild abrasive pad or fine sandpaper. When i fill this engraved area with a thin layer of paint the "un-smoothyness" stay's visible through the paint. I tried to engrave deeper in the acrylic but that didn't do the trick either. When i try to fill it with acrylic paint it's almost impossible to avoid the paint to spoil on the area's which should stay the original color.
